You know you made it when you’re a common noun in the dictionary. Some created murals called frescoes, on the walls and ceilings of historic landmarks, others sculpted figures out of marble. This is the type of art that came out of the Renaissance — a period where creatives got all reflective, looking back at antique & classic art, design, and “vibes” — Michelangelo’s word not ours — for inspiration to bring to their own work. And when they tapped in, they discovered a gold mine. There is even a record of one artist going so far to say “Yo, this old stuff kind of fire though”. And there was something about this idea of ‘old stuff being kind of fire’ that we really related to. After all, like an archeological dig, sometimes you have to excavate the past to discover something new.
Starting with the 9060, which pulls fromthe 990 line, 860v2, and the 991, and inspired by the creative through-line to the Renaissance that we wanted to explore,the Bodega X New Balance 9060 “Age of Discovery” and its accompanying apparel collection blends yesterday's artifacts and tomorrow's vision into gear for today.
Seriously where would our 9060 be without an entourage to help carry its vision to the finish line, tree line, or drop line? Expanding on the color story of the sneaker, the Renaissance Tee ensures the party doesn't have to stop at your feet. Cleanly summing up our project, this easy going tee hints at what the collection is all about, with its purple and blue union, but doesn't spill all the beans.
